Field Tour - 'Jewish' Shanghai, 2005

In June 2005 Dulwich College Year 9 History classes toured various sites in Shanghai in support of their studies on World War II and the Holocaust. The first site was a survey view of Hong Kou (the old Hong Kew ghetto area) from the Ocean Hotel. From the hotel we walked through the area stopping at Luoshan Park and the Jewish Museum in the former Ohel Moishe Synagogue. Next was map work plus a survey of buildings on Shanghai's famous Bund. After lunch on Nanjing Lu the last stop was the Childrens Palace (former home of Sir Elly Kadoorie).
